Cookie Policy
Effective: 20 February 2026
This policy explains how TradeScout uses cookies and similar technologies. We keep it simple because, frankly, we don’t use many.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and keep you signed in. Some data we store uses localStorage (similar to cookies but stays on your device and isn’t sent to our servers).
2. Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These are required for TradeScout to work. You can’t opt out of these.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase auth token | Keeps you signed in to your account | Session / 7 days |
| CSRF token | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
Functional storage (localStorage)
These stay on your device and help us remember your preferences:
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Filter preferences | Remembers your trade type, radius, and other search filters | Until cleared |
| Map position | Remembers where you last viewed the map | Until cleared |
Analytics cookies
We do not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce them in future (e.g. to understand which features are most useful), we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
3. Third-party cookies
We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies. No ad networks, no social media trackers, no cross-site tracking. Stripe may set its own essential cookies during the payment process: these are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.
4. Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:
- See what cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block third-party cookies
- Block all cookies (though this will prevent you from signing in to TradeScout)
- Clear all cookies when you close the browser
To clear localStorage data, use your browser’s developer tools or clear site data in your browser settings.
5. Cookie consent
Because we only use essential cookies required for the Service to function, we don’t currently show a cookie consent banner. If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we’ll implement a proper consent mechanism and update this policy.
6. Changes to this policy
If we start using new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we’ll update this page. For significant changes, we’ll notify you through the app.
7. Questions?
Email us at info@tradescout.co.uk if you have any questions about our use of cookies.
