Terms of Service
Effective: 21 February 2026
These terms govern your use of TradeScout (the “Service”), operated as a trading name from the United Kingdom. By creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. What TradeScout does
TradeScout helps tradespeople discover relevant planning applications in their area. We aggregate publicly available planning application data from local authorities and present it in a way that’s useful for finding potential work. We are a lead discovery tool: we don’t guarantee work or act as an intermediary between you and applicants.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be based in the United Kingdom
- You must provide accurate information when registering
- One account per person: no shared or duplicate accounts
3. Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your login details secure. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, let us know immediately at info@tradescout.co.uk. We’re not liable for any loss from unauthorised access to your account.
4. Free tier, letters, and Pro subscription
Free tier
All leads are completely free to browse, including full addresses, applicant names, and project details. The only paid feature is letter sending.
Pay as you go (letters)
- Send professional printed letters to homeowners for £2.99 each
- Letters are printed and posted via Royal Mail second class
- No subscription required: pay per letter
Pro subscription (£49/month)
- Pro includes 25 letters per month (effective cost: £1.96 per letter)
- Billed monthly via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel
- Letter credits reset each billing cycle. Unused allowances do not roll over
- Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable
- We may change prices with 30 days’ notice. Existing subscribers keep their current price until the next renewal after the notice period
5. Payments and billing
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We don’t store your card details. For reveal packs, you are charged once at the time of purchase. For Pro, you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis. If a payment fails, we’ll notify you and may suspend access until the payment is resolved.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Pro subscription
- You can cancel Pro at any time from your account settings
- When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your current billing period
- 14-day cooling-off period applies to your first Pro payment. If you cancel within 14 days, you receive a full refund.
- After 14 days, no partial refunds are given. You retain access until the end of the billing period.
Letters
- Letter charges (£2.99 each) are non-refundable once a letter has been sent to print
- Refunds are processed back to your original payment method via Stripe
- Contact us at info@tradescout.co.uk for refund requests
7. Acceptable use
When using TradeScout, you agree not to:
- Scrape or bulk-download data from the Service using automated tools
- Resell or redistribute leads or data obtained from TradeScout
- Harass applicants: planning applicants are real people. Contact them professionally and respectfully. Cold-calling or aggressive marketing based on our data is not acceptable.
- Create fake accounts or impersonate others
- Attempt to access other users’ accounts or data
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without refund.
8. Data accuracy
TradeScout aggregates publicly available planning application data from local authority sources. While we do our best to present accurate and up-to-date information:
- We cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of planning data
- Applications may be amended, withdrawn, or decided after we display them
- Contact details shown are from public records: they may be outdated
- Always verify details independently before acting on any lead
9. Intellectual property
The TradeScout name, logo, design, and software are our intellectual property. Planning application data itself is publicly available information: we don’t claim ownership of it. You may use lead information for your own business purposes, but you may not reproduce, resell, or redistribute the Service or its compiled data.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- TradeScout is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind
- We’re not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service
- Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim
- We’re not responsible for any business decisions you make based on data from TradeScout
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time. We may also terminate or suspend your account if:
- You breach these terms
- You don’t pay your subscription fees
- We reasonably believe your account is being used fraudulently
- We decide to discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice)
On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We’ll delete your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you by email or through the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Dispute resolution
If you have a complaint, please contact us first at info@tradescout.co.uk. We’ll do our best to resolve things informally. If we can’t reach a resolution, either party may pursue the matter through the courts of England and Wales.
