Your Data Rights

Effective: 20 February 2026

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have strong rights over your personal data. This page explains those rights in plain English and tells you exactly how to use them.

Your rights at a glance

📋 Right to access your data

You can ask us for a copy of all the personal data we hold about you. We’ll provide it in a common format (like CSV or JSON) within 30 days.

✏️ Right to correct your data

If any of your data is wrong or incomplete, you can ask us to fix it. You can update most information directly in your account settings, or email us for anything else.

🗑️ Right to delete your data

You can ask us to delete your account and all associated personal data. We’ll process this within 30 days. Some data (like payment records) must be kept for legal reasons: see our Privacy Policy for retention periods.

📦 Right to data portability

You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format so you can transfer it to another service if you wish.

⏸️ Right to restrict processing

You can ask us to temporarily stop processing your data while we resolve a concern: for example, if you think your data is inaccurate and want us to verify it.

🚫 Right to object

Where we process your data based on “legitimate interest” (like analytics), you can object and we’ll stop unless we have compelling grounds to continue.

🔄 Right to withdraw consent

Where we rely on your consent (like email digests), you can withdraw it at any time. This won’t affect anything we did before you withdrew consent.

How to make a request

Email us at info@tradescout.co.uk with the subject line “Data rights request”. Include:

  • Your name and email address associated with your TradeScout account
  • Which right you want to exercise
  • Any specific details (e.g. what data you want corrected)

What happens next

  1. We’ll acknowledge your request within 3 working days
  2. We may need to verify your identity before proceeding
  3. We’ll complete your request within 30 days
  4. If we need more time (for complex requests), we’ll let you know and explain why

Quick actions

Some things you can do yourself without waiting for us:

  • Update your details: edit your name, email, postcode, and trade preferences in your account settings
  • Unsubscribe from emails: click the unsubscribe link in any digest email
  • Cancel your subscription: manage this in your account settings
  • Delete your account: available in your account settings, or email us

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your request, you have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection authority:

We’d always appreciate the chance to resolve things directly first, but you’re absolutely entitled to go straight to the ICO if you prefer.
